Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Morten Paulsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mad Dog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Paulsen might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Papa Roach - Do or die. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Morten Paulsen!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mad Dog!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paulsen uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Paulsen lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Dog circles away quickly and effectively.
Dog fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Nice uppercut lands for Paulsen. That snapped Dog's head back.
Paulsen wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Dog moves away from the strike by Paulsen.
Dog keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Dog throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Paulsen's waist but Paulsen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dog off to one side.
Paulsen throws a body kick that misses.
Dog lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Dog feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Dog slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Paulsen on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Paulsen tries to get out of the position.

Dog drops back looking for a leg! Paulsen is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Paulsen manages to kick Dog off! Dog jumps back into Paulsen's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Dog is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Paulsen looking to control.
Dog postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Paulsen is trying to keep Dog in close.
Paulsen keeping moving, preventing Dog from controlling successfully.
Paulsen pulls Dog in close to his closed guard and prevents Dog from doing any damage or advancing position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Morten Paulsen.
Dog shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Paulsen but Paulsen pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Dog looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Paulsen lunges at Dog with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Dog's hand.
A slow jab from Paulsen misses its intended target.
Paulsen throws a low kick, looking for Dog's leg but Dog calmly moves out of range.
Paulsen misses with a body shot.
Paulsen motions for Dog to come forward. Paulsen throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Paulsen swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Morten Paulsen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Dog slips under a jab.
Dog fails with a takedown attempt.
Morten Paulsen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mad Dog.

Dog closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Paulsen's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Paulsen can't keep his opponent in guard - Dog advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Dog is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Dog is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Paulsen doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Dog.
Paulsen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dog on the ground.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Dog tries to pass to full mount but Paulsen defends it.
Dog is controlling the pace.

Paulsen wants to control but Dog is keeping busy.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Morten Paulsen just wasn't active enough.

Dog gets a clinch.
Paulsen taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Paulsen avoiding damage as Dog throws knees to the body.

Dog pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Paulsen connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dog takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Morten Paulsen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dog tries a head kick but it misses.
Dog shoots for a takedown but Paulsen saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Dog looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Paulsen is fending him off so far but Dog persists. Nope, Paulsen circles away and we're back to standing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Mad Dog will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Paulsen attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Paulsen throws the left hand but Dog avoids the punch easily.
Paulsen lands with a straight right. Dog didn't see that one coming.
Dog takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Paulsen throws a jab when Dog was well out of range.

Dog closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Dog lands in his opponent's guard.
Dog throws a big right hand that misses.
Paulsen is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Dog trying to control but Paulsen is working from the bottom.

Paulsen looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Dog passes into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Dog is looking to advance position but Paulsen won't allow it.

Dog looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Paulsen is trying to escape back to his feet but Dog uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Dog tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dog has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Mad Dog has got the better of the ground game so far.
The strikes coming from Dog are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Dog looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Paulsen is looking for a sweep.

Dog is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Paulsen is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Dog stands up and beckons Paulsen to his feet.
Paulsen throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Dog stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Dog avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Mad Dog is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Paulsen throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Dog counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Paulsen!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Dog prevents Paulsen from getting the reversal.

Paulsen is bucking up trying to escape but Dog cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Dog looking to finish Paulsen with some ground and pound. This is bad for Paulsen!

Dog is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Paulsen is surviving well by controlling Dog's body position as best he can.
Paulsen is working to get back to half guard.

Dog avoids the attempt from Paulsen to control.
Dog has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Mad Dog showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

The fighters circling - Paulsen throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
The fight stays on the outside here - Dog looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Dog's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Paulsen misses with an attempted mid kick.
Dog misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Paulsen lands a nice hook to Dog's body. Dog takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Paulsen ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Paulsen throws a push kick but Dog slaps the foot to one side.

Paulsen connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Dog's hands.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Morten Paulsen.
I think Dog has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
