Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jacob Monroe! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kelvin Redondo! The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Redondo shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Monroe as he avoids it easily. Monroe closes the distance and clinches. Monroe is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Redondo can't fight it off and eventually Monroe manages to take the fight to the floor. Redondo looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Redondo wants to sweep but no luck. Redondo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Monroe gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Redondo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Monroe is one step ahead there. Monroe throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Redondo works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Redondo wants to sweep here but Monroe controlling him for the moment. Redondo keeping moving, preventing Monroe from controlling successfully. Redondo has a closed guard, preventing Monroe from standing up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Redondo throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Redondo seems keen to control Monroe's posture. Monroe throws a big elbow that misses. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Redondo is on top in guard.
Redondo wants to pass the guard but Monroe is keeping the position. Redondo trying to control but Monroe is working from the bottom. Redondo passes into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Redondo seems to be looking for submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Redondo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Redondo gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Monroe shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Redondo manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Monroe has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Redondo is proving hard to escape from. Monroe has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Monroe is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Redondo has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Monroe is looking to defend but Redondo has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Monroe! Redondo pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Monroe taps out and this one is all over!
