Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Stevenson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dusty Mears (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michael Stevenson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dusty Mears!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Trevor Gratis and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stevenson misses with an uppercut. Mears saw that one coming.

Mears pushes Stevenson up against the cage in a clinch.
Mears tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Mears stops a takedown attempt from Stevenson.

Mears gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Mears jumps guard.

Mears throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Stevenson escapes and throws Mears's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Mears is looking to regain half guard here but Stevenson keeps moving and retains side control.
Stevenson scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Mears to see if he's OK.
Stevenson cracks Mears with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Mears stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stevenson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Mears has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Stevenson finds it's way round the side to connect with Mears's head.

Mears is working an open guard so Stevenson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Mears tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Stevenson paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Mears ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mears no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Mears is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Mears frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Stevenson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mears on the ground.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mears thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Stevenson to regain full guard.
Stevenson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Mears throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Stevenson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Mears drops back looking for a leg! Stevenson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Stevenson manages to kick Mears off! Mears jumps back into Stevenson's guard.
Mears with a flurry of punches that miss.

Stevenson is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Mears lands an elbow inside that Stevenson shrugs off.
Mears misses with a knee strike.
Stevenson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Mears has him pressed against the cage.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Mears jumps into guard, dragging Stevenson to the mat.

Mears escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Stevenson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Mears lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Stevenson!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Dusty Mears showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Mears shoots in for a double leg but Stevenson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Stevenson rolls with it to try and escape but Mears cranks on the arm and Stevenson is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
