Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hank Tank! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Moy Mendez! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Elvis Blanc and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mendez closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Tank looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Mendez is keen to just control but Tank is a slippery customer. Tank is looking to get back to is feet but Mendez passes into side control.
Mendez is staying tight to Tank's torso, preventing him from escaping. Mendez tries to move into full mount but can't pass Tank's legs. The ground and pound from Mendez seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Tank tries to buck Mendez off but Mendez is having none of it. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Tank with a poor takedown and Mendez counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Tank is lucky that one didn't land flush. Tank gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily so Mendez counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Mendez showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Mendez trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendez controls from within his opponent's guard. Mendez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Mendez passes easily into side control. Nice work. Tank takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Mendez stands up and beckons Tank to his feet. Mendez looks gassed! Tank with a lazy takedown attempt and Mendez counters with a nice double leg into half guard. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hank Tank. That's going to take a lot out of him. Tank trying to hold on to Mendez's head to control him but Mendez postures up.
Mendez is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tank tries to get to full guard but Mendez has control of the leg. Mendez tries to pass the half guard into mount. Tank knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Tank looking for submissions off his back. Mendez decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Tank tries to bum rush Mendez with a series of wild strikes but Mendez uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Tank lands a two punch combo.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mendez takes the fight into the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mendez breaks the clinch.
A swing and a miss from Tank. Tank shoots and misses so Mendez counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Mendez wants to pass the guard but Tank is keeping the position. Tank is trying to control the position but Mendez postures up. Tank throws his legs up looking for a submission but Mendez uses it to pass to side control.
Mendez controlling the position from side mount. Mendez stands up and beckons Tank to his feet. Mendez closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes. Tank goes for a takedown attempt but Mendez pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mendez has closed the distance and engaged Tank in a clinch.
Mendez gets a trip takedown into half guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Tank has a hand on Mendez's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Mendez takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Mendez is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet! Tank shoots and misses and Mendez counters with a single leg into guard. Tank didn't expect that. Mendez forces his way into half guard. Tank on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Tank trying to control but Mendez postures up.
Tank wants to control the action here but instead Mendez manages to pass to full mount! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Moy Mendez dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Tank misses with a takedown and Mendez counters with a nice double leg into guard. Tank looking for a sweep. Not yet Tank, not yet. Mendez is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Tank trying to keep a closed guard but Mendez is proving a slippery customer.
Mendez sitting in guard, not really doing much. Mendez stands up from Tank's guard - Mendez perhaps looking for a knockout. Mendez throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendez ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Tank moves away. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. A combination from Tank does no damage. Tank tries to keep at a distance but Mendez has taken the fight into the clinch. Mendez gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Tank is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Mendez jumps into side control! Tank manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Tank actively working from the bottom here. Tank is looking for a sweep. Mendez is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Tank trying to hold on to Mendez's head to control him but Mendez postures up.
Mendez wants to pass to mount but Tank is defending the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Mendez in particular looking to stall. Tank wants to get back to full guard. Tank manages to get to full guard.
Mendez trying to control but Tank is working from the bottom. Mendez is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Mendez stands and steps away. Tank gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Excellent takedown into side control there by Mendez. Tank is looking for a sweep.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mendez tries for a kimura but Tank is defending well. Tank is looking for a sweep. Tank tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad. Tank regains half guard. Mendez tries to stand and escape but Tank is controlling the position. Mendez prevents Tank from improving his position. Mendez has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Still in half guard, Mendez seems content to control. Mendez moves nicely into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mendez takes a little break here. Tank wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Tank is looking to reverse the position. Moy Mendez has got the better of the ground game so far. Mendez remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Mendez moves into full mount! Mendez controlling the pace for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Moy Mendez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Despite being in the dominant position, Moy Mendez just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Tank tries for a takedown but Mendez circles away easily and Mendez counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Tank's guard now. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Mendez is thwarting Tank's attempts to control the position. Tank works his way to full guard. Good work. Tank is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Tank looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mendez is one step ahead there. Mendez postures up and lands a big shot to Tank's brow. Mendez trying to control the position from guard on top but Tank is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mendez tries to stand but Tank is controlling from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tank looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Mendez puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Mendez tries to pass to full mount but Tank defends it. Mendez prevents Tank from improving his position. Mendez escapes and gets back to his feet. Tank shoots and misses and Mendez counters with a nice double leg into side control. Tank won't be happy with that. Mendez is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Tank is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Tank is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Mendez asserts his dominance and retains side control. Mendez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Tank keeps working.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tank sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Mendez with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Tank looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Tank regains full guard. Nicely done. Tank tries to land a sweep but no joy. Mendez gets to his feet - Tank follows without any prompting. Nice jab there from Tank. Hank Tank has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Tank does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
And that's the end of the fight! Moy Mendez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Mendez winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
