The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Qaida tries to clinch but Gonzalez moves out of range.
Qaida stuffs the takedown attempt from Gonzalez. Gonzalez gets slowly back to his feet.

Gonzalez swings around for an armbar but Qaida sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Gonzalez's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Qaida tries to close the distance and clinch but Gonzalez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Good leg kick by Qaida there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Qaida fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Gonzalez, pushing him back against the cage.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gonzalez takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Gonzalez shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Qaida's guard.
