PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between James Harrison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Troy Gaspar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Troy Gaspar will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Harrison!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Troy Gaspar!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Dillan Fox and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harrison throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Gaspar keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
James Harrison seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gaspar takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Harrison tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gaspar swivels and escapes.

Gaspar clinches up against the cage.
Gaspar misses with a knee to the head.

Gaspar breaks the clinch.
Gaspar lands a nice looking body kick.

Harrison feints and as Gaspar raises his hands in defense, Harrison changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Harrison slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

I really don't envy Gaspar right now.

Harrison has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Gaspar has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Gaspar manages to reverse the position and now he's in Harrison's guard. Nice work there by Gaspar.

Gaspar postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Harrison shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
The referee warns Gaspar that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Gaspar is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Harrison seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Gaspar for as long as he can get away with.

Harrison has control of Gaspar's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Gaspar regains control of the situation pretty easily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Harrison has control of Gaspar's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Gaspar regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Gaspar is in all sorts of trouble here.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Harrison is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Gaspar is defending well though. Harrison let's go of the attempt for now.

That's time! Harrison's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

The fight stays on the outside here - Harrison looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and Gaspar holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Harrison is trying to trip Gaspar. He has hold of a leg but Gaspar is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Harrison persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Harrison stands and steps away. Gaspar gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
James Harrison is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Harrison shoots in looking for a takedown. Gaspar tries to sprawl out of it but Harrison keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gaspar manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Troy Gaspar has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Harrison takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Troy Gaspar comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Harrison has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
