PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Harry Callahan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Connor MacLeod (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). MacLeod has chosen Battle Hymn as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Harry Callahan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 1, fighting out of New York, Connor MacLeod!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Joseph Jones and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Callahan walks into a left hand.
No joy there for Callahan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
MacLeod wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
MacLeod misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Callahan.

MacLeod instigates a clinch.

Callahan breaks from the clinch.
MacLeod stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and MacLeod wants it to stay on the feet.
MacLeod stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Callahan.
MacLeod throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Callahan makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
MacLeod wants to clinch but Callahan slips to the side
and Callahan counters with a thumping low kick.

MacLeod gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Callahan to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Callahan in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Callahan postures up in MacLeod's guard and throws a big left but MacLeod blocks it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

MacLeod struggles to land a body shot inside as Callahan controls his hands.
MacLeod goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Callahan is trying to break the clinch but MacLeod has him pressed against the cage.

Callahan has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Callahan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Callahan walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
MacLeod feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Callahans jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
MacLeod swings away with an uppercut that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Connor MacLeod dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

MacLeod creates some distance for himselfand unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Callahan's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Callahan drops to his knees and MacLeod pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Connor MacLeod!
In his post fight interview, Connor MacLeod started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
