PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Randy The Dragon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Buddy Webster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Randy The Dragon has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Randy The Dragon seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Randy The Dragon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Buddy Webster!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Webster is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in The Dragon's half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Webster throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing The Dragon to regain full guard.
Webster with a flurry of punches that miss.
Webster not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Webster throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as The Dragon works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Webster throwing strikes from guard but The Dragon blocks nicely.
The Dragon is looking to stand up but Webster isn't so interested in that idea.
Webster's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Buddy Webster wasn't active enough on the ground.
Webster shoots in looking for a takedown. The Dragon tries to sprawl out of it but Webster keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. The Dragon manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Webster scores a takedown into full mount!

Webster is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But The Dragon has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from The Dragon!
The Dragon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Webster swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Webster looking to hit a scissor sweep but The Dragon is one step ahead there.

The Dragon advances position into side control!
Webster sneaks back into half guard.
Webster wants to improve his position but The Dragon is controlling well.
Webster regains full guard. Nicely done.

The Dragon has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Webster is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The Dragon pushes down on Webster's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Webster is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but The Dragon pulls his head out easily.

The Dragon wants to stand up but Webster is controlling the position.

The Dragon tries to stand but Webster is controlling from the bottom.
Webster manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. The Dragon manages to get himself to full guard.
Webster postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Webster throws a big elbow that misses.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Webster lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Webster is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, The Dragon has managed to free his arm - good work.
The Dragon avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Webster.

Webster not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Webster in particular looking to stall.
Webster wants to pass the guard but The Dragon is defending well.

Webster is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so The Dragon is just riding it out for now. Webster eventually gives up the hold.

Webster content to control rather than advance.

Buddy Webster showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The Dragon gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Webster to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Webster drops back, looking for a kneebar! The Dragon looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. The Dragon looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from The Dragon!
Webster manages to work his way to half guard, despite The Dragon's best efforts.
The fighters are battling for position here. Webster manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

The Dragon tries to stand but Webster is controlling from the bottom.

Webster is looking to sinch up a triangle. The Dragon throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Webster's body to avoid the submission. Webster has instead reached around The Dragon's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Webster arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
