Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Edmundo Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mateus Allen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mateus Allen told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Edmundo Jr! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mateus Allen! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Seu Braga and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Allen will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
No luck for Jr with that takedown attempt. Jr misses with a takedown letting Allen counter with a right hand. Allen ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Allen throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jr shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Allen is trying to defend but Jr finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Allen is trying to stand.
Jr throws a strike but Allen avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Allen preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Jr has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Jr throws a strike but Allen rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Allen has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Jr is proving hard to escape from.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jr is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Allen is controlling him. Allen must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Jr is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Allen tries to free his leg and advance position but Jr is retaining full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jr is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Allen is controlling him. Jr tries to land a sweep but no joy. Allen sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Mateus Allen wasn't active enough on the ground. Allen waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Jr. Jr ducks under a wild hook from Allen.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jr shoots for a takedown but Allen saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Edmundo Jr. That's going to take a lot out of him. A big left from Allen misses. Mateus Allen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Allen fails to land with a series of punches.
Jr will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Jr takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Allen misses the jab. Allen ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Allen misses the shot to the body. Jr steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Allen. No luck with that takedown attempt from Jr. A jab from Allen does it's job there. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Jr fails with the takedown and Allen counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Edmundo Jr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Allen scores with a jab to the head.
The crowd cheers as Allen lands an impressive looking overhand right. Jr doesn't seem phased though. Jr misses with a takedown attempt - Allen sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. A jab lands there for Allen.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jr blocks a jab. Allen slaps away a takedown attempt from Jr, before circling back to the center of the mat. Jr has his takedown stuffed and Allen counters with a nice body shot. Jr misses with a takedown and Allen counters with a lovely straight right hand! Allen keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Jr slips under a jab from Allen. Allen missing with a left hand there. Jr was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Nice uppercut there from Allen.
Jr is rocked! Allen connects with a picture perfect right hand that knocks Jr out cold! This one is over in a flash!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Mateus Allen! Mateus Allen is the new featherweight champion! A relieved looking Mateus Allen thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
