Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, David Murphy! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hype Williams! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Colin Fray and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Murphy misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Williams.
Williams misses with an uppercut. Murphy takes one to the chin there. Murphy connects with a crisp jab. Williams swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Williams uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Murphy.
David Murphy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Murphy falls off balance throwing a combination
and Williams counters with a three punch combo that has Murphy backing up. Murphy nods at Williams to acknowledge the strikes. Williams moves away from the strike by Murphy. Williams lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Murphy lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Williams has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Williams and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. A punch combination from Williams misses. Murphy lands a glancing blow to the side of Williams's head. Williams chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Murphy can pounce on him.
That's one minute gone in the round. A jab lands there for Williams. Williams swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Williams fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Murphy manages to avoid it. Williams ducks under a wild hook from Murphy. Murphy misses with a left hand and Williams counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. A solid leg kick lands there for Murphy.
Good standup being displayed there by Williams as he connects with a hook. A looping hook to the body misses from Murphy. Williams does a little dance to reset his feet. Murphy stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Murphy swings for the body but Williams moves out of range.
Murphy staying out of range there. Murphy thows a body shot but no joy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Williams checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. A shot to the liver by Murphy. Beautiful body shot. Williams throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Williams bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Murphy's head. Murphy lands an overhand right. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Williams takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Williams throws a head kick that misses. Murphy avoids a punch combination nicely.
Williams moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Williams is rocked! Williams gets tagged by a hook that puts him to sleep! Murphy points and yells something to his unconcious foe before strutting off. Williams wakes up just in time to hear Murphy thank his coaches in the post fight interview.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). David Murphy! David Murphy retains his bantamweight title! A victorious David Murphy thanked his army of followers in his post fight interview, telling people to make sure they follow him on Twitter.
