Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jon Saltzman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kido Takayoshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jon Saltzman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kido Takayoshi!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takayoshi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Saltzman as he avoids it easily.
Takayoshi wants to clinch

and Saltzman counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Takayoshi's guard now.
Saltzman throws a big elbow that misses.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Saltzman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Takayoshi doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Saltzman is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Saltzman trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Takayoshi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Saltzman cracks Takayoshi with a solid left hand.
Saltzman is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Takayoshi wants to stand up but Saltzman is controlling him.
Saltzman landing some decent shots from guard.

Saltzman wants to pass the guard but Takayoshi is keeping the position.
Saltzman postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Saltzman is looking to work some ground and pound but Takayoshi has wrist control.
Saltzman stands up over Takayoshi, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Saltzman got a little sloppy there for a moment and Takayoshi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Saltzman has managed to get both his arms back between Takayoshi's legs - danger averted.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Saltzman's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Saltzman is working Takayoshi over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Saltzman won't allow Takayoshi to sweep him here.

Takayoshi is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Saltzman has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Saltzman is in close to Takayoshi's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Saltzman throws a big right hand that misses.

Takayoshi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Saltzman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Saltzman is looking to work some ground and pound but Takayoshi has wrist control.

Saltzman throws an elbow that misses. Takayoshi uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Saltzman's guard. Nice move by Takayoshi!

Saltzman is breathing heavily.
Takayoshi tries to free his leg and advance position but Saltzman is retaining full guard.
Takayoshi wants to control from the top but Saltzman keeps moving.
Saltzman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Takayoshi on the ground.

Kido Takayoshi has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Takayoshi fails with a takedown attempt.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Takayoshi looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Saltzman is fending him off so far but Takayoshi persists. Nope, Saltzman circles away and we're back to standing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jon Saltzman dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Saltzman shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Takayoshi pinned against the cage. Takayoshi gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Saltzman shoots in looking for a takedown. Takayoshi tries to sprawl out of it but Saltzman keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Takayoshi manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Takayoshi fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Saltzman shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Takayoshi is trying to defend but Saltzman finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Saltzman looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Takayoshi with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Takayoshi is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Saltzman's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Saltzman's back!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Takayoshi somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.

Takayoshi working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Saltzman is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Takayoshi has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Saltzman taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Kido Takayoshi!
