Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sludge Guts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Davey Newsome (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Guts's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, "Number of the Beast" by Iron Maiden. Newsome has chosen Hurt as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Davey Newsome is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sludge Guts! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Davey Newsome! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Alyssa Summers and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Newsome stuffs the takedown attempt from Guts. Guts gets slowly back to his feet. Newsome scores with a takedown into Guts's guard. Newsome content to stall in guard here. Newsome lands a couple of elbows. Newsome content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Guts will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Newsome scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Newsome postures up in Guts's guard and throws a big left but Guts blocks it. Guts working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Newsome. Guts trying to keep a closed guard but Newsome is proving a slippery customer.
Newsome stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Guts swivels though and keeps the full guard. Newsome wants to control from the top but Guts keeps moving.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Guts misses with a takedown and Newsome holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Guts is pressed up against the cage. Newsome has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Guts down to the mat. Guts avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Guts shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Newsome counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sludge Guts. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nice strikes from Newsome there. Newsome seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Newsome scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Guts looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Guts is staying active underneath Newsome, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Guts wants to get back to full guard. Guts taking some punishment here, with Newsome in his half guard. Newsome thows a huge punch but Guts dodges it nicely.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Guts wants to improve his position but Newsome is controlling well.
Guts is breathing heavily. Guts on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Newsome is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Newsome scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Newsome's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Newsome wants to pass the guard but Guts is keeping the position. Newsome lands a couple of decent looking shots. Guts keeping moving, preventing Newsome from controlling successfully. Newsome slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Newsome postures up and lands a big shot to Guts's brow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Newsome scoring with punches to the head and body. Newsome stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Guts swivels though and keeps the full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Newsome slips nicely into half guard. Newsome working Guts over with strikes. Newsome working the head and body with strikes. Guts on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Newsome looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Newsome connects with a nice short shot to Guts's temple. Newsome is nestled in close to Guts, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Davey Newsome dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Guts fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Newsome, pushing him back against the cage. Newsome ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Newsome no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Newsome looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Guts's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Guts preventing the sweep. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Newsome can do anything to dispel that myth. Newsome not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Newsome manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Newsome with the ground and pound from mount. Newsome trying to control but he's not successful this time. The referee warns Guts that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Newsome looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

That's one minute gone in the round. Newsome lands a big shot there that rocks Guts but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Guts is rocked! Newsome unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Guts wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Newsome celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
