Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tank Abott! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
30 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Raimonds Bergmanis! The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Abott ducks right into an uppercut from Bergmanis. Abott tries to clinch up but Bergmanis circles away and keeps his distance. Bergmanis connects with a good right hand that stumbles Abott. Abott circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Abott moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Tank Abott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bergmanis thuds his right hand into Abott's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Abott decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Bergmanis is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Abott pulls his head out easily. Abott moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Bergmanis. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Abott is looking to take a break and control but Bergmanis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Bergmanis tries to improve position but can't.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bergmanis regains half guard, as Abott was trying to land strikes. Abott thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Abott trying to control the action but Bergmanis is working from the bottom. Abott is working for a kimura but Bergmanis is defending it quite comfortably.
Abott is keen to just control but Bergmanis is a slippery customer. Bergmanis manages to get to full guard.
Bergmanis has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Abott can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Abott trying to control but Bergmanis is working from the bottom. Abott wanted to stand there but Bergmanis had control of the position. Abott has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Bergmanis to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Abott is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Bergmanis pulls down on the head and he's put Abott to sleep! This one is all over!
