PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vic Sotto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ludji Mamica (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sotto kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Whistle. Mamica is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: KRANKSVESTER-Majko, zovi dilera. Ludji Mamica will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vic Sotto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ludji Mamica!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Eddie Farnsworth and John Kavanagh.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mamica lands with an uppercut that bounces Sotto off the cage and back into range.
Sotto tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mamica sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sotto somewhat.
Mamica stalks Sotto and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Sotto's face. Sotto staggers backwards, shaken.

Sotto is rocked!

It looks like Vic Sotto has been cut.
Sotto is looking to clinch.
Oh Sotto is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Mamica gets tackled into the cage by Sotto. Sotto maintains the clinch.
Sotto looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
A left hand lands to the body for Sotto.
Sotto seems to have got his legs back now.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mamica managing to block the knees to the body from Sotto.

Sotto manages to break the clinch.
Mamica tries for a takedown but Sotto sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

and Mamica counters with a beautiful punch that sends Sotto to the canvas!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Mamica seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Sotto controls Mamica momentarily but Mamica frees himself.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Ludji Mamica wasn't active enough on the ground.
Mamica feints a jab promting Sotto to slip. Mamica then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Sotto slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Sotto shoots in for a takedown but Mamica shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Ludji Mamica seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mamica closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Sotto did well to prevent Mamica getting side control.

Mamica is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Sotto is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

A very excited looking Ludji Mamica rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
