Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Billy Lightning (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jarl Kallstrom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Billy Lightning!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jarl Kallstrom!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Bruno Lombardi and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kallstrom closes the distance and pushes Lightning back into the cage.

Kallstrom ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kallstrom no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Lightning has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Lightning forces his way into half guard.
Lightning wants to take a breather but Kallstrom is having none of it.

Kallstrom has one foot on Lightning's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Kallstrom shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Lightning is trying to defend but Kallstrom finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kallstrom wants to stand up but Lightning has a hold of him and won't allow it.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jarl Kallstrom hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Lightning drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Kallstrom is trying to get back to half guard.
Kallstrom wants to get back to his feet.

Lightning thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Kallstrom is trying to improve his position.
Kallstrom struggling a bit here.
Kallstrom prevents Lightning from moving into mount.

Kallstrom is looking to reverse the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kallstrom is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Lightning off and has taken his back!

Lightning is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Let's hope that Kallstrom has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Lightning has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.

Kallstrom has got his arm under Lightning's chin working for the choke… has he got it? It looks pretty tight! Oh! Lightning has spun round into Kallstrom's guard beautifully! Well done that man!

Kallstrom wants to sweep here but Lightning controlling him for the moment.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Kallstrom throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lightning was covering up waiting for the punch and Kallstrom finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Kallstrom is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Kallstrom slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Kallstrom stands up and waves to Lightning to follow him.

Kallstrom shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Lightning but Lightning pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Kallstrom shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kallstrom showed some decent athleticism there.

Kallstrom closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Lightning's guard.

Kallstrom sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Lightning's guard.

Kallstrom perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Kallstrom is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Lightning doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kallstrom.

Kallstrom is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Lightning sees it coming and defends easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jarl Kallstrom showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Kallstrom lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Lightning has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Lightning and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Kallstrom misses with a head kick.
Kallstrom shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Lightning pinned against the cage. Lightning gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Lightning misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kallstrom shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Lightning shoots in and drives through. Kallstrom sprawls well.
Lightning is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kallstrom sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Billy Lightning. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lightning closes the distance and clinches up with Kallstrom, looking for a takedown. Lightning pushes Kallstrom against the cage but Kallstrom circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Lightning shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kallstrom as he jumps to the side.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Lightning shoots in and drives through. Kallstrom sprawls well.
Jarl Kallstrom is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Kallstrom rushes Lightning and presses him up against the cage.

Kallstrom pulls guard.
Kallstrom seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Lightning takes a decent strike to the side of the head.
Jarl Kallstrom has got the better of the ground game so far.

Kallstrom scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Kallstrom pivots, looking for a leg kick but Lightning is out of range and Kallstrom settles back down.
Kallstrom looks to throw the jab but Lightning is out of range.
Lightning misses with a looping right.
Kallstrom tries for a takedown but Lightning sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

and Kallstrom counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kallstrom looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Kallstrom works his foot free and advances to mount.

Lightning is bucking up trying to escape but Kallstrom cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Kallstrom wants to take Lightning's back but he can't do it this time.
The referee warns Lightning that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Billy Lightning has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kallstrom pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Kallstrom cracks Lightning with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jarl Kallstrom comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kallstrom has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
