Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joe Garelli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rey Mesterio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Garelli might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Patriarch on a Vespa. Mesterio has chosen Be A Warrior as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garelli bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Garelli seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Mesterio for as long as he can get away with.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Garelli is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Mesterio has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Mesterio!

Garelli is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Mesterio has his hands clasped together but Garelli extends an breaks Mesterio's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Garelli.
