Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, William Whitmore! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Duke Miller! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Miller darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Whitmore moves into full guard.
Miller stays in close to Whitmore's body and controls the position. Whitmore manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Miller manages to get himself to full guard.
Whitmore stands up from Miller's guard - Whitmore perhaps looking for a knockout. Whitmore gets caught napping as Miller dives in and scores a takedown. Whitmore manages to retain guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Miller won't allow Whitmore to sweep him here. Miller wanted to stand there but Whitmore had control of the position. Miller stands and throws Whitmore's legs to the side, diving into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Miller tries to move into full mount but can't pass Whitmore's legs. Whitmore is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Whitmore is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Miller moves into full mount! Whitmore won't be happy about that! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Whitmore is trying desperately to improve position. Whitmore is working hard here to advance position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Whitmore takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
It looks like William Whitmore has been cut. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Miller cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Whitmore really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Whitmore is trying to reverse the position but instead Miller has taken his back - oops! I would not like to be Whitmore right now.
Whitmore turns into Miller and is now in his guard.
Whitmore lands a couple of elbows. Miller is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Miller is pulling down on Whitmore's head. It's preventing any offense from Whitmore, at least for the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Miller is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Miller working for submissions but it's allowed Whitmore to get to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Miller has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Whitmore can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Whitmore slips nicely into half guard. Whitmore throwing shots but Miller is blocking nicely. Miller looks like he's trying to stand up.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Miller has eaten all the pies! Whitmore thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Whitmore looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Miller is staying active underneath Whitmore, who seems content to just control the action from this position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Duke Miller dominated that round. The cut man is working on William Whitmore's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Whitmore shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Miller pinned against the cage. Miller gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Miller misses with a double jab.
Miller tries to clinch but Whitmore moves out of range. Miller closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Whitmore quickly recovers to half guard. Miller sitting and controlling from the half guard. Whitmore slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Whitmore is trying to control the position from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Whitmore is on top in guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Whitmore got a little sloppy there for a moment and Miller has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Whitmore has managed to get both his arms back between Miller's legs - danger averted. Whitmore trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Miller looking for a sweep. Not yet Miller, not yet. Miller is breathing heavily. Miller trying to keep a closed guard but Whitmore is proving a slippery customer.
Whitmore will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Miller looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Whitmore puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Whitmore throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Miller wants to control but Whitmore is keeping busy.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Whitmore lands a nice short elbow. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Miller can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Miller manages to escape and get back to his feet! Miller tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Whitmore swivels and escapes. Whitmore moves into range and clinches up with Miller. Whitmore lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Whitmore looking for a takedown. Whitmore is looking for a takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for William Whitmore. That's going to take a lot out of him. Miller jumps guard but Whitmore stands there with Miller around his waist. Miller gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

William Whitmore is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Miller fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Whitmore sprawls well initially but Miller persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Whitmore moves into full guard.

Whitmore thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Miller wants to pass the guard but Whitmore is keeping the position. Whitmore has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Miller off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Whitmore fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Miller to the ground. Whitmore is now in Miller's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Whitmore works a leg free and moves into half guard. Whitmore takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Whitmore slips a nice elbow through Miller's hands, connecting with Miller's forehead. Whitmore missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Whitmore wants to control but Miller is keeping him busy. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Whitmore is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Whitmore not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Whitmore wants to take a breather but Miller is having none of it. Miller shoots in looking for a takedown but Whitmore manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Miller's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Whitmore throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Miller was covering up waiting for the punch and Whitmore finishes the takedown easily into guard. Whitmore trying to control the position from guard on top but Miller is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Miller controlling Whitmore's posture. Miller wants to control the position but Whitmore says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Miller takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Whitmore with the ground and pound but Miller uses the opportunity to regain guard. Miller uses the cage to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Whitmore stuffs the takedown. Whitmore gets a takedown into half guard. Whitmore wants to work for an arm triangle but Miller is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Whitmore works his foot free and advances to mount. Miller takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Miller gets back to half guard. Whitmore seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Whitmore trying to control the action but Miller is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Whitmore thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Miller's head. Miller is looking to improve his position.
Nice strikes from Whitmore there. Whitmore is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Miller on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Miller is not content to let Whitmore control the position. Whitmore is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
