PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Randy Natural (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrei Silas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Natural comes into the arena with back in black - ACDC blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Randy Natural!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andrei Silas!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Natural as Silas shoots in.
Natural swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Natural darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Silas trying to control from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Natural is taking a breather. Silas says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Silas is looking to improve his position.
Natural performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Natural wants to pass the guard but Silas is defending well.
Natural is controlling the pace.
Natural's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Natural has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Natural seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Silas for as long as he can get away with.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Randy Natural just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Silas keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Natural thows a body shot but no joy.
Natural misses with a body shot.
Natural throws a looping overhand right but Silas ducks down to avoid it.
Silas fails in his attempt to clinch.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Natural wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
No luck for Silas with that takedown attempt.

Natural takes a swing at Silas's ribcage but misses.
Natural throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Silas sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Natural lands with a nice body punch.
Silas looks gassed!

Natural darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Natural wants to pass to mount but Silas is defending the position.
Silas slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Natural takes a swing at Silas's ribcage but misses.
Natural throws a hook but Silas blocks it.

Natural feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Natural decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Silas steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Natural.
Natural just misses with a punch to the body.
Natural throws a jab but it's blocked by Silas.
Natural swings for the body but Silas moves out of range.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Silas fails with the takedown.
Natural throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Natural shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Silas has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Natural is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Silas.
Silas is breathing heavily.
Natural just content to control the position.
Silas pushes Natural away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Natural gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Natural staying calm.
Silas wants to get back to his feet but Natural is dominant here and he's now got Silas's back!
Natural tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Natural closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Silas to the mat! Silas manages to get full guard.
Silas can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Natural controls the pace.
Silas looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Natural puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Natural content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Randy Natural dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Silas throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Natural's waist but Natural gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Silas off to one side.
Silas shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Natural as he jumps to the side.
Silas takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Silas gets caught flat footed, as Natural shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Natural is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Silas is looking for a triangle but Natural pushes his legs off easily.
Natural is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Silas wants to sweep but no luck.
Randy Natural overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Silas uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Natural.

Natural closes the distance and clinches.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Silas has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Natural is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Randy Natural has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andrei Silas.
Natural content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Andrei Silas has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Natural for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

Well Natural has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
