Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
38 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Philip Dale! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, David Emelianenko! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Daniel Cesar and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Emelianenko throws a right and a left that Dale avoids nicely. David Emelianenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dale looks to score with a jab to the body but Emelianenko is just out of range. Dale closes the distance and pushes Emelianenko back into the cage. Dale throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Dale gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Emelianenko.
Emelianenko can't get the takedown.
Emelianenko takes a knee right on the jaw!
It looks like David Emelianenko has been cut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Dale lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Come on Dale - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Dale lands an elbow that stopped Emelianenko in his tracks for a moment. Dale lands with a short head shot on the inside. Dale will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Emelianenko up against the cage. Emelianenko is trying to drag Dale to the mat but Dale just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Philip Dale has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Emelianenko.
That's one minute gone in the round. Emelianenko tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Dale just stands there and leans against the cage. Dale lands a right hand. Dale lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Emelianenko looks gassed! A left hand lands to the body for Dale.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Dale breaks the clinch.

Dale moves into the clinch. Dale landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Dale lands an uppercut. Dale lands with a short head shot on the inside. Dale lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Dale creates a little bit of space and unloads with a massive uppercut! Emelianenko drops to the mat, out cold! Wow, that was brutal! What a knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Philip Dale! During a confident post fight interview, Philip Dale thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
