Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Colin Barron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barron is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Ave Satani. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 1, fighting out of New York, Colin Barron!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones jabs Barron to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Jones connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Barron's hands.
Nice shot by Jones.
Jones lands with a cross.
Jones tries to score a power double leg takedown but Barron sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jones somewhat.
Jones misses with a body shot.
Nice straight punches there by Barron. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Barron.
Jones swings for the body but Barron moves out of range.
Jones takes a head kick and shrugs it off.


It looks like Paul Jones has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jones doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Barron counters with a slapping leg kick.
Barron swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

No luck for Jones with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Barron pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Jones cracks Barron with a good jab.
Barron tries a head kick but it misses.
The fighters circle momentarily. Jones darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Jones takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Jones shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Jones was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Barron tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Jones thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Jones can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Barron is looking to escape.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jones has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Barron takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Jones wants to control the pace but Barron is squirming around nicely.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Jones is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Barron can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Jones lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Jones lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Jones scores with the left hand. Barron knows he should have avoided that one.
Barron keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
The fighters circle momentarily. Barron darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Barron misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Jones misses with a looping left.
A combination from Barron does no damage.
Barron moves out of range of the strikes.

Jones dives in and scores a takedown into Barron's guard.
Jones pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Barron is keeping the position for now.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Barron is looking for a triangle but Jones pushes his legs off easily.

Jones postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Jones trying to control but Barron is working from the bottom.
Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Barron swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Barron is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones postures up in Barron's guard and throws a big left but Barron blocks it.
Jones throws a big right hand that misses.
Jones wants to pass the guard but Barron is keeping the position.
Jones postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jones lands a couple of digs.
Paul Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Barron keeping full guard, as Jones tries to pass.
Barron lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Jones!
Jones tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Jones wants to hold on but Barron pushes him away.
Jones is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Barron is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Jones is trying desperately to improve position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Jones tries to reverse the position but Barron maintains control.
Barron avoids the attempt from Jones to control.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Barron lands a nice shot to the head.
Jones keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Paul Jones will probably get the nod.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Jones throws an overhand right that lands on Barron's shoulder, as Barron tries to avoid the shot.

and Barron counters with a flying knee that drops Jones! Barron dives in and finishes the fight with a flurry of strikes from the mount!

Colin Barron decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
