PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nate Daath (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hugo Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Daath might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Laceration Penetration . We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nate Daath!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hugo Silva!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Ian Loll and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Silva is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Daath is staying active underneath Silva, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Silva not doing much here.
Daath is not content to let Silva control the position.
Silva prevents Daath from improving his position.
Daath wants to get back to his feet.
Silva works his way into full mount!

Silva throws some wild stikes that Daath manages to avoid easily.
Daath can't escape the position.
Silva lands a big elbow.
Poor strikes thrown by Silva there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Silva connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Daath is in all sorts of trouble here.

Silva looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Daath keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Silva throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Silva trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Silva prevents Daath from getting the reversal.

Silva jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Daath manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Silva has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Daath is trying to escape the position but Silva is controlling the position.
Daath is not content to let Silva control the position.

Silva throws an elbow but Daath slips to the side and avoids it well.
Daath can't do much from the bottom here.
Daath is looking for a sweep.

Silva decides to stand back up. Silva steps back and let's Daath get back to his feet.
Silva shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Daath sprawls well. Daath wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Silva gets slowly back to his feet.
Silva tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Daath swivels and escapes.

Daath cracks a nice hook into Silva's ribs.

Daath shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Silva is trying to defend but Daath finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Silva looks gassed!
Silva slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Silva is looking for a triangle but Daath pushes his legs off easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Daath looking to sit in guard and control but Silva gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hugo Silva dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Daath feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Silva is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Silva prevents Daath from standing back up.
Silva tries to pass the half guard into mount. Daath knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Silva prevents Daath from improving his position.
Daath trying to hold on to Silva's head to control him but Silva postures up.

Daath is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Silva scores with a couple of nice shots.
Silva slows the pace down in half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Daath is defending against the submission attempts here by Silva.

Daath holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Silva prevents Daath from improving his position.

Silva maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Daath could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Silva has cracked it and Daath is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Silva!
