Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
25 - 15 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Gerlach Rutger! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jon Jones! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Damien Edna and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones works the jab nicely. Jones lands a jab-cross combination. Jones dips to his left and cracks Rutger with an uppercut! Jones fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Rutger will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Jones lands an overhand right. Jones tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Rutger shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jones sprawls well. Jones wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rutger gets slowly back to his feet. Rutger takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Jones connects with a high kick.

Jones looks to land a combination but Rutger avoids it well. Jones wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Jones looks to land a combination. Rutger sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Jones lands a nice shot that snaps Rutger's head back.

Jones lands with a kick to the temple. Rutger shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Jones throws a head kick but Rutger moves out of range.
Jones is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Rutger takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Jones throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Rutger stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Jon Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jones throws a sloppy head kick and Rutger moves out of range easily. Nice takedown defense from Jones. No joy for Rutger on that attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gerlach Rutger. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rutger closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. A combination from Jones does no damage. Some wild striking there from Jones.

Jones lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Rutger blocks a head kick by Jones.

Jones tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Jones stalks Rutger and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Rutger's face. Rutger staggers backwards, shaken. No joy there for Jones, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Rutger shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Rutger not landing any meaningful shots this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rutger lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Jones is in trouble now - Rutger has advanced to mount! Jones in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. This has been an exciting period of action! Rutger lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Jones hang on? Rutger with good strikes from the mount here! Rutger in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Rutger sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rutger. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Rutger lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Gerlach Rutger will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Jones shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Rutger eats them both and turns towards Jones to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Rutger showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Jones.
Rutger is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jones sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Jones misses with the combination.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jones throws a sloppy head kick and Rutger moves out of range easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jon Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Rutger closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Gerlach Rutger overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Rutger has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Jones is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Rutger yanks on the arm and Jones is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Rutger.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:53 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Gerlach Rutger! Gerlach Rutger was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
