Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shinji Takeda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brad Tavares (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Takeda comes to the cage accompanied by Fort Minor-Kenji. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shinji Takeda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brad Tavares!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Emerson Jorge and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tavares tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Takeda counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Takeda.

Takeda breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Takeda shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Takeda wants to control the pace but Tavares is squirming around nicely.
Takeda thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Tavares is wriggling around trying to escape.

Tavares tries to get back to half guard but can't.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Takeda shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Takeda was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Takeda is landing with some decent strikes but Tavares is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Takeda jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Tavares manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Takeda wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Tavares, who protects the arm well.

Takeda remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Takeda decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Takeda shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Tavares tries to hold on but Takeda pushes him away.
Takeda can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Tavares is looking to escape.

Takeda gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Tavares is defended easily by Takeda.
Shinji Takeda has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brad Tavares.
Tavares shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Takeda sprawls well. Takeda wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Tavares gets slowly back to his feet.
Shinji Takeda seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Shinji Takeda tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
