The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lauren closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Perez has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Perez avoids a punch combination nicely.

Lauren tries to close the distance and clinch up but Perez swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Lauren looks to land a combination. Perez sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Lauren had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Perez defends it easily.

Perez wants to control from the top but Lauren keeps moving.

Lauren throws his legs up looking for a submission but Perez uses it to pass to side control.

Perez connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Lauren some visible discomfort.
Lauren is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Perez's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
