Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Adriano Da Costa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wanderlei Silva! The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Paul Aken and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Da Costa moves into the clinch. Silva with a knee to the head.

Silva throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Da Costa blocks it with crossed arms. With the two fighters working up against the ropes, Da Costa just misses with a elbow thrown towards Silva's brow. Da Costa blocks a body shot from Silva. Silva tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Silva has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Da Costa after a bit of a struggle. Silva drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Da Costa gets the underhooks and prevents it.

The referee will try and keep them active though. Silva is working to avoid the ground and pound but Da Costa connects with a decent elbow. Da Costa is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Silva's shoulder. That is not cool. Da Costa wants to take a breather but Silva manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Da Costa.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Da Costa passes easily into side control. Nice work. Silva is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Da Costa is controlling him well. Da Costa decides to stand up, so the ref orders Silva to his feet. Da Costa gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Silva tries to land knees in the clinch but Da Costa avoids the damage to the body. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Silva lands a right hand that snaps the head of Da Costa backwards.

A low kick from Da Costa is predictable there and Silva counters with a nice body kick. Da Costa tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. No joy there for Da Costa, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Adriano Da Costa is winning the standup battle so far. A lazy body kick from Da Costa and Silva counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Da Costa throws a jab but it's blocked by Silva. Da Costa throws a combination that misses and Silva counters with a left to the body. Silva uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Da Costa. Da Costa dives in and scores a takedown into Silva's guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Da Costa wants to pass the guard but Silva is keeping the position. Silva preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Silva wants to stand but Da Costa is controlling the position. Silva wants to get back to his feet but Da Costa passes into half guard.
Da Costa thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Silva's head. Da Costa with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Silva is trying to stand up here but Da Costa is controlling him well. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Da Costa wants to take a breather but Silva is having none of it. Silva is looking to get back to is feet but Da Costa passes into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Da Costa decides to stand back up. Adriano Da Costa is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Da Costa fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Da Costa has closed the distance and engaged Silva in a clinch.

and Silva counters with a low kick, right behind Da Costa 's knee. Da Costa tries to bum rush Silva with a series of wild strikes but Silva uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Da Costa misses with a right hand and Silva holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Silva tries a knee to the head but Da Costa blocks it.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Silva wants to get back to his feet but Da Costa is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Da Costa slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Adriano Da Costa. Da Costa throws a right hand that Silva ducks under and follows up with a left that Silva also avoids with ease. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Da Costa wants to clinch and Silva counters with a two punch combo. Wanderlei Silva has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Da Costa throws a right and a left that Silva avoids nicely.
And that's the end of the fight! Adriano Da Costa showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Da Costa, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
