PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Herald Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Taylor comes to the cage accompanied by Smoke the Fire!!. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jack Johnson was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Herald Taylor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jack Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Josh West and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson tries to bum rush Taylor with a series of wild strikes but Taylor uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Johnson moves out of range as Taylor strikes.
Taylor fails with a takedown attempt.
Johnson scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Taylor tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Johnson counters by clinching up.

Taylor manages to pull guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Johnson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Taylor knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Johnson on the ground.
Johnson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Taylor's guard.
Johnson blocks the strikes from Taylor.
Johnson is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Taylor is trying to get back to full guard.
Johnson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Taylor with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Johnson seems to be looking for submissions.

Taylor is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Johnson pulls his head out easily.
Johnson uses his free foot to push down on Taylor's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Taylor.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Johnson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Taylor defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Johnson.
Johnson connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Taylor squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Taylor can't escape the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Johnson controlling the pace for now.
Johnson with the ground and pound from mount.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Taylor tries to lock up and control but Johnson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Taylor is looking to get to half guard.
Johnson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Johnson putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!


Taylor is rocked!
Johnson landing strikes from the mount.
Oh Taylor is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Johnson working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Taylor turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Johnson off and cradles Taylor's limp body as Johnson celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Jack Johnson!
Jack Johnson tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
