PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jebidiah Knepp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keith Schafer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Knepp's entrance music is Amish Paradise. A fine choice. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Keith Schafer was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jebidiah Knepp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Keith Schafer!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Chris Edwards and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knepp misses with a head kick.
Knepp is trying hard to land a takedown here. Schafer sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Knepp attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Schafer is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Knepp throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Knepp ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Knepp scores with a jab.
Schafer tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Schafer misses with a low kick.
Knepp misses with a wild body shot.
Knepp throws a body punch but Schafer moves out of range.

Knepp misses with a hook. Schafer ducked under it nicely.
Knepp will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Knepp dives in and grabs Schafer's left leg, looking for a takedown. Schafer pushes down on Knepp's head and hops out.

Schafer clinches.
Schafer lands a left hand that snaps the head of Knepp backwards.
Knepp tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Schafer smiles and moves away.

Knepp looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Schafer!
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Schafer is desperately trying to improve his position but Knepp has a good base and remains in mount.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Schafer is squirming around, avoiding Knepp's attempts to control the action.
Knepp avoids the attempt from Schafer to control.
Knepp breaks from Schafer's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Schafer regains half guard.
Schafer is holding on to half guard well.
Well, if Knepp is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Knepp is thwarting Schafer's attempts to control the position.

Schafer wants to improve his position but Knepp is controlling well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Schafer gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Knepp.

Jebidiah Knepp seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Knepp ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Schafer wants to clinch but Knepp slips to the side
and Knepp counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Schafer is looking to clinch but Knepp is avoiding it.
Schafer uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Knepp.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jebidiah Knepp will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Knepp throws a half hearted mid kick.
Schafer connects with a good right hand that stumbles Knepp. Knepp circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Knepp tries to land a leg kick but Schafer saw it coming and moves away.
The fighters circling - Knepp throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Schafer throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Knepp sees it coming and avoids it easily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Knepp. Schafer does a little dance to reset his feet.
Schafer tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Knepp gets tackled into the cage by Schafer. Schafer maintains the clinch.
Knepp tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Schafer's elbow.

and Schafer counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Knepp fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Schafer checks it well.
Schafer is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Knepp.
Knepp thows a body shot but no joy.
Knepp connects with a single shot there.
Knepp tries to land a body kick
and Schafer cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Jebidiah Knepp is winning the standup battle so far.
Nice defenses there by Schafer.
Schafer moves to clinch but Knepp breaks away
and Knepp makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Knepp takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Knepp throws a sloppy body shot
and Schafer counters with a left and a right that stings Knepp.
Schafer tries a low kick but Knepp avoids it.
Knepp throws a nice looking combination but Schafer bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Knepp jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Schafer walks away with a smile on his face. Knepp gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Knepp shoots in for a takedown but Schafer shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jebidiah Knepp. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Schafer uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Knepp.
Schafer looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Schafer tries to move into range but Knepp moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Knepp jumps into guard, dragging Schafer to the mat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Knepp has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Keith Schafer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Schafer drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Schafer jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Schafer throws a big elbow that misses.
Schafer won't allow Knepp to sweep him here.
Schafer is looking to work some ground and pound but Knepp has wrist control.

Schafer has gone for a leg lock! Knepp slips out almost immediately though and dives into Schafer's guard.

Knepp stuns Schafer with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Keith Schafer comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Knepp has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
