PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Christian Igali (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Montgomery Nagendra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Igali's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Firestarter - The Prodigy. Nagendra is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: The Liberty Bell - John Philip Sousa. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Christian Igali!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Montgomery Nagendra!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Paul Tew and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Igali moves into the clinch.
Nagendra tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Nagendra tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Igali just stands there and leans against the cage.

Igali pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Igali tries to clinch but Nagendra is having none of it.

Igali clinches with his opponent.
Nagendra tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Christian Igali has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Montgomery Nagendra.

Igali pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Igali closes the distance and clinches.
Nagendra wants to break the clinch but can't.
Nagendra tries to pull guard but Igali holds him up against the cage and eventually Nagendra drops back down to his feet.

Nagendra breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nagendra throws a right and a left that both miss.
Nagendra throws a right hand that Igali ducks under and follows up with a left that Igali also avoids with ease.
Igali is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Nagendra.


It looks like Christian Igali has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Nagendra circles away from the clinch attempt.
Nagendra shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Igali but Igali pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Igali misses with a takedown attempt - Nagendra sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Igali gets caught napping as Nagendra dives in and scores a takedown. Igali manages to retain guard.
Igali might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Nagendra looking to sit in guard and control but Igali gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Igali chips away with some ground and pound.
Nagendra tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Nagendra is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Igali missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Nagendra is looking for a triangle but Igali pushes his legs off easily.
Igali throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Igali in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Igali trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Igali working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Nagendra's head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Igali trying to control the position from guard on top but Nagendra is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Igali connects with a couple of short punches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Igali loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Igali trying to control but Nagendra is working from the bottom.
Nagendra is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Igali distracts Nagendra with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Igali postures up in Nagendra's guard and throws a big left but Nagendra blocks it.
Igali works over Nagendra with some ground and pound from guard.
Igali scoring with some ground and pound.
Igali wants to pass the guard but Nagendra is keeping the position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Nagendra pushes Igali off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Nagendra pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Igali back to the cage. Nagendra follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Igali clinches up against the cage.
Igali has Nagendra pressed against the cage, preventing Nagendra from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Igali breaks the clinch.

Igali fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Nagendra, pushing him back against the cage.
Nagendra tries to pull guard but Igali forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Nagendra tries to break the clinch but Igali is controlling the position.

Igali manages to break the clinch.
No luck for Igali with that takedown attempt.
Igali stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Igali wants it to stay on the feet.
Igali throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Nagendra stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Igali tries to clinch there but Nagendra circles away.

Igali looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Igali is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Nagendra lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Igali!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Igali sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Nagendra lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Igali actively working from the bottom here.
Igali wants to improve his position but Nagendra is controlling well.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Igali moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Christian Igali dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Christian Igali's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Igali is looking to clinch but Nagendra is avoiding it.
No joy there for Nagendra, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Nagendra shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Nagendra was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Nagendra throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Igali taking shots to the head.
Igali keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Igali defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Nagendra.
Nagendra avoids the attempt from Igali to control.
Igali is looking to get to half guard.
Igali is squirming around, avoiding Nagendra's attempts to control the action.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nagendra landing strikes from the mount.
Igali is looking to improve his position but Nagendra isn't that keen on the idea.
Nagendra postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Igali in real trouble here! The ref calls for Igali to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Montgomery Nagendra!
After the big win, Montgomery Nagendra made sure to do all the important stuff like thanking his sponsors Brute and telling the interviewer how much he loves him.
