The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva has Animai up against the cage in a clinch.
Animai wants a takedown but no success here.

Silva breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Silva looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Animai paws at him with a jab and circles away.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Silva closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Animai is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Silva pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Animai manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Silva on his heels. He'll look to pass Silva's guard now, I'm sure.

Animai feints and as Silva raises his hands in defense, Animai changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Animai looks up at the clock and then as Silva takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Animai smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Silva is trying to control Animai's posture but Animai avoids it.

Animai looks up at the clock and then as Silva takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Animai smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Silva really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Animai. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Animai is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Silva is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Animai has hold of Silva's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Silva tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Animai cranks the arm and Silva screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Silva, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
