Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Da Coach!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vladimir Putin!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Daniel Franklin and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Putin has his takedown stuffed

and Coach counters with a takedown into side control.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Coach wants to stand but Putin has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.
Coach wants to stand but Putin has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Coach has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Putin looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Coach trying to control but Putin is working from the bottom.
Coach won't allow Putin to get back to his feet.

Coach stands up and waves to Putin to follow him.
Putin shoots in for a takedown but Coach shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Putin keeps the fight on the outside.
Vladimir Putin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Coach scores with a punch to the head.
Putin tries to clinch but Coach is having none of it.

and Coach counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Coach looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Putin is trying to maintain the position but Coach is very close to passing his half guard.

Coach wants to get back to his feet.
Putin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Coach is working away from the top position though.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Vladimir Putin wasn't active enough on the ground.
Nice defenses there by Putin.
Putin tries to clinch up.
Coach tests Putin's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Coach misses with a series of wild punches.

Putin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Coach tries to avoid it but Putin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Coach to the ground. Coach escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Da Coach has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vladimir Putin.
Coach listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Coach throws a low kick, looking for Putin's leg but Putin calmly moves out of range.
Putin darts in trying to clinch
enabling Coach to counter with a crisp jab.
Putin fails with the takedown.
Coach moves out of range of the strikes.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Coach misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Putin fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Putin throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Coach cracks Putin with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Coach closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Putin holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Coach tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Putin.
Putin is staying active underneath Coach, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Coach is pressing down on Putin's thigh, looking to free his foot. Putin is holding on for now.
Putin moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Putin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Coach gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Coach gets to his feet - Putin follows without any prompting.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Coach throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Da Coach dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Putin shoots in looking for a takedown but Coach manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Putin's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Coach's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Putin connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Coach scrambles back to his feet.
Da Coach is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Putin tries to land a leg kick but Coach saw it coming and moves away.
Putin shoots in looking for a takedown. Coach tries to sprawl out of it but Putin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Coach manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Putin wants to clinch.
Coach misses with a lunging right hand
and Putin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Putin looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Da Coach has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vladimir Putin.
Putin fails with an attempt to clinch.
Putin tries to clinch but Coach is having none of it.
Putin tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Coach paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Coach cracks Putin with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Putin showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Coach.

Coach pushes Putin up against the cage in a clinch.

Putin pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Putin gets a clinch.
Putin tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Coach smiles and moves away.

Coach closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Putin quickly recovers to half guard.

Putin is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Coach pulls his head out easily.
Putin is staying active underneath Coach, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Putin trying to hold on to Coach's head to control him but Coach postures up.
Putin is looking for a sweep. Coach is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Da Coach overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Coach tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Putin.
Coach frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Coach stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Putin fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Coach is out of range.
Putin fails with an attempt to clinch.

Coach looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Coach tries to stand and escape but Putin is controlling the position.
Putin moves into full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Coach has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Putin is proving hard to escape from.

Putin is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Coach rolls with it to try and escape but Putin cranks on the arm and Coach is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Vladimir Putin!
