Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jonathan Torrens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Ross!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Steve Montenegro and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Torrens lands a nice hook to Ross's body. Ross takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Torrens misses the shot to the body.
Torrens jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Torrens tries to close the distance and clinch but Ross swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ross scores with a jab. Torrens acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Torrens looks to score with a jab to the body but Ross is just out of range.
Torrens fails to land with a series of punches.
Torrens throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Torrens sizes up Ross with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Torrens throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Torrens looks to land a right hand but Ross moved out of range.

Ross scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Torrens is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ross cracks Torrens with a big right hand but Torrens just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Torrens wants to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ross is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Torrens will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Ross has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Torrens is looking to reverse the position.
Ross controls the position.

Ross tries for a kimura but Torrens is defending well.
You can see the frustration on Torrens's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Ross controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Torrens struggling a bit here.
Ross gets to mount! Torrens was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Torrens in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Torrens keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ross connects with a couple of good shots from mount.


Torrens is rocked!


It looks like Jonathan Torrens has been cut.
The referee warns Torrens that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Oh Torrens is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Ross postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Torrens looks a forlorn figure.

Torrens tries to buck Ross off but he can't manage it.
Torrens is in a horrible position here. Ross smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Ross tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Ross lands a big shot to the head and Torrens winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Mike Ross!
Mike Ross seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
