PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Linh Munn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sub Position (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Munn comes to the cage accompanied by Motivation. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Linh Munn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sub Position!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Ryoma Takatsuka and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Munn with a lazy takedown attempt
and Position counters with a stiff right hand.

and Position makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Munn.

Munn wants to hold on but Position pushes him away.

Munn is not content to let Position control the position.

Position stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Munn swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Munn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Position swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Munn shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Position manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Position throws his legs up looking for a submission but Munn uses it to pass to side control.

Position is trying to escape the position but Munn is controlling the position.

Munn might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Position is on top in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Position looks to score with a jab to the body but Munn is just out of range.
Linh Munn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Position connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Linh Munn will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Position is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Position throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Munn closes this distance looking for a takedown but Position circles away.
Munn tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Position paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Munn looks to land a combination but Position avoids it well.

Position throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Munn tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Position is in Munn's guard.
Munn is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Position passes Munn's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Munn wants to improve his position but Position is controlling well.
Position passes the guard and advances to mount!

Position has control of Munn's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Munn regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Position lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Position can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Munn is looking to escape.
Munn is working to get back to half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Position is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Munn to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Munn shrugs it off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sub Position showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Munn rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Position moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Position cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Position is working for a guillotine from mount but Munn frees his head quite easily.
Munn slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Sub Position.
I think Position has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
