Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alberto Tomba!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Laz Herculus!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Herculus waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Tomba.
A slow jab from Tomba misses its intended target.
Tomba throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Herculus lands a nice shot to the body.
A telegraphed right hand from Tomba misses the target.
Tomba moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Tomba gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Herculus.
Herculus scores with a hook.
Herculus pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Herculus avoids a punch combination nicely.
Tomba pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Herculus misses with an uppercut. Tomba saw that one coming.
Herculus keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Herculus swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Herculus throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Tomba sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Herculus looks to throw the jab but Tomba is out of range.
Tomba throws a jab but it's blocked by Herculus.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Tomba lands a big head kick that sends Herculus tumbling to the mat! Tomba takes a step backwards and waves Herculus back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Herculus is rocked!
It looks like Laz Herculus has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Herculus swinging wildly here.
Tomba uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Herculus.
Tomba misses with a series of wild punches.
Herculus lands a lovely overhand right.
Alberto Tomba seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tomba moves out of range of the strikes.
Tomba throws a lazy uppercut
and Herculus counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Tomba circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Herculus to the canvas! Herculus doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Tomba keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alberto Tomba!
