Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between BJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). BJ Penn looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, BJ Penn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James King! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Winston Howard and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Penn slaps away a takedown attempt from King, before circling back to the center of the mat. Penn looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Penn fails with a takedown attempt from distance. King shoots in but Penn avoids the takedown attempt easily. King doesn't succeed with the takedown and Penn counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. BJ Penn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James King. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Penn prevents King from improving his position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Penn seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but King does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. King trying to control here.

King wants to get back to full guard. King wants to control but Penn is keeping busy.
King is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by James King. King misses with a two punch combination.
Penn misses with a takedown attempt - King sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Penn keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. King fails with an attempt to clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. King moves in looking to clinch but Penn pushes him off. King fails miserably with a takedown attempt. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. King swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
King looks to clinch and Penn decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in King's guard. Penn tries to free his leg and advance position but King is retaining full guard. King looking to hit a scissor sweep but Penn is one step ahead there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Penn postures up.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. James King wasn't active enough on the ground. King tries to clinch up. King shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Penn as he avoids it easily. King wants to clinch up but Penn keeps it at a distance. King is looking to clinch. King closes this distance looking for a takedown but Penn circles away. This has been an exciting period of action! King misses with a takedown attempt - Penn sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. King takes a swing at Penn's ribcage but misses. King tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Penn swivels and escapes. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Penn changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. King tries to avoid it but Penn manages to keep hold of a leg and drag King to the ground. King escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Penn defends well against a solid takedown attempt from King. King tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that BJ Penn will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
King tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Penn manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. King fails in his attempt to clinch. Penn shoots in and bounces King off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. King is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Penn keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. King sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Penn defending well though. King looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's one minute gone in the round. King moves into full mount! Penn won't be happy about that! King punching from mount but Penn doing a good job of avoiding damage. King controlling the pace for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. King tries to control but Penn wriggling away. King working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. King is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Penn is surviving well by controlling King's body position as best he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Penn tries to get back to half guard but can't. Penn tries to hold on but King pushes him away. King trying to control but he's not successful this time. King throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Penn because King loaded up on that one. King trying to control but Penn is having none of it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. King is looking to work his way around to Penn's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position. Penn defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from King. King has hold of Penn's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Penn manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Penn tries to lock up and control but King gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
James King showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
King shoots in for a double leg but Penn sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. King swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
King clinches with his opponent.
King connects with a nasty looking knee right to Penn's face.
It looks like BJ Penn has been cut. King has Penn pushed against the cage. Penn breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nice sprawl there from Penn as King shoots in. Nice takedown defense from King. No joy for Penn on that attempt. Penn shoots in but King avoids the takedown attempt easily. King misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. BJ Penn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James King. King tries to clinch there but Penn circles away.

King shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. King will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Excellent takedown into side control there by Penn. King struggling a bit here. Sloppy strikes there by Penn. King is looking to reverse the position. King wants to control but Penn postures up. King is not content to let Penn control the position. King really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Penn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. King is trying to get back to his feet. Penn is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, King has escaped the position, nice work there. King gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. King is trying to get back to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Penn is looking for a kimura but King is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Penn to get the leverage. King wants to control but Penn is keeping busy.

Penn is keen to just control but King is a slippery customer. King is looking to escape. King has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Penn is working away from the top position though.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Penn fails to land with a series of punches.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. King fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
King throws a series of punches but Penn avoids them all with ease. King fails with a takedown attempt.
And that's the end of the fight! James King comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well King has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
