And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kawakami shoots in for a double leg but Hata sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Kawakami fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Kawakami throws out a loose jab but Hata uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kawakami throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kawakami misses with a double jab.
David Kawakami seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kawakami moves into range and clinches up with Hata.
Kawakami has clasped his hands together around Hata's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Hata is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
