The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boom Jr closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Boom Jr is working for a submission of some sort.
Boom Jr works his foot free and advances to mount. Dodson has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
Dodson is trying to shake Boom Jr off. He's managed it and has hopped back to his feet! Boom Jr won't be happy about giving up the dominant position. Dodson takes a swing at Boom Jr's ribcage but misses. Dodson swings for the body but Boom Jr moves out of range.
Dodson misses with a hook. Boom Jr ducked under it nicely. Dodson missing with a left hand there. Boom Jr was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Dodson throws a hook to the side of Boom Jr's head but Boom Jr sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Boom Jr keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

That's one minute gone in the round. Dodson swings for the body but Boom Jr moves out of range.

Dodson leaves Boom Jr with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Nice sprawl there from Dodson as Boom Jr shoots in. Boom Jr avoids the body shot from Dodson.

Dodson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Boom Jr was well out of range. Poor timing from Dodson. Boom Jr looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Dodson! Dodson wants to control but Boom Jr is having none of it. Boom Jr works his way to his opponent's back.
Boom Jr has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Dodson has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Boom Jr is looking for a choke. Dodson gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Dodson manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Dodson landing with the ground and pound. Dodson content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Dodson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Boom Jr is keeping the position for now. Boom Jr looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Boom Jr is looking for a triangle but Dodson pushes his legs off easily.
Dodson with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Boom Jr has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dodson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Boom Jr wants to sweep here but Dodson controlling him for the moment. Boom Jr bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dodson's guard. Dodson is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Boom Jr is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Dodson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Dodson has escaped and now he's on top! Boom Jr has momentary wrist control but Dodson slips an elbow through the middle. Dodson cracks Boom Jr with a solid left hand. Dodson chips away with some ground and pound. Dodson lands a couple of elbows.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Dodson stands and throws Boom Jr's legs to the side, diving into side control. Boom Jr is trying to get back to half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dodson lands a few punches from side control. Boom Jr takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Dodson working the head and body with strikes.
Boom Jr is rocked! Dodson in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Boom Jr looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Dodson turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!
