Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rogerio Cabral! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo Alves! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Mauricio Rocha and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alves throws a series of strikes that have Cabral backpedaling.
Cabral throws a right and a left that both miss. Alves throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Cabral fails with a takedown attempt. Cabral ducks right into an uppercut from Alves. Alves throws a series of punches but Cabral moves out of range. Alves throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Cabral goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Cabral clinches. Cabral with a knee to the head.
Cabral manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. This has been an exciting period of action! Cabral has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Alves can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Cabral looking to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alves trying to stand up but can't free himself from Cabral's guard. Alves really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cabral. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Cabral is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Alves is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Cabral has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Alves is looking to defend but Cabral has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Alves! Cabral pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Alves taps out and this one is all over!
