The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lopez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Thomas is fending him off so far but Lopez persists. Nope, Thomas circles away and we're back to standing.
Thomas stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Thomas wants it to stay on the feet.
Lopez moves away from the strike by Thomas.
Thomas swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Lopez shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Lance Thomas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tony Lopez.
Thomas throws a right hand that misses

and Lopez counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Thomas!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Lopez postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Thomas looks a forlorn figure.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lopez cracks Thomas with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Thomas could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Lopez landing strikes from the mount and Thomas is in trouble!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Thomas is in a horrible position here. Lopez smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Lopez looking to control but Thomas is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Lopez loads up with a big shot that hurts Thomas! He's pulled Lopez in close but Lopez has postured up and lands more strikes. Can Thomas survive? More strikes from Lopez and Thomas is out! The ref jumps in to save him! Brutal ground and pound!
