The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Gracie has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Gracie isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Lima stacks Gracie on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Lima!

Lima regains half guard there - taking advantage of Gracie's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gracie accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Gracie is in close to Lima's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Lima tries to control Gracie's body but Gracie pushes him off. Lima squirms to his side and now Gracie has his back!
Gracie is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Lima has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Gracie is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Lima is defending well though. Gracie let's go of the attempt for now.
Gracie is landing with strikes from the back.
Gracie misses with a punch to the head.
Gracie lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.
Lima trying to control but not successfully.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gracie is persistently looking for the submission but Lima is defending it well.
Renan Lima has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Gracie is trying to stick to Lima's back but Lima is turning into Gracie. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Gracie's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Lima.

Well Gracie has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
