Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jesse James! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nathan Creasy! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Eliza Hachem and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Creasy leaves James with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Jesse James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Creasy takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
It looks like Nathan Creasy has been cut. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Creasy - that will leave a mark!
James is breathing heavily. Creasy throws a nice looking combination but James bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Creasy fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Creasy tries to close the distance and clinch but James swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. James with a lazy takedown attempt and Creasy counters with a nice double leg into guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Creasy trying to control the position from guard on top but James is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Creasy pushing down on James's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Creasy throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Creasy is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. James doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Creasy. James blocking the ground and pound attempt from Creasy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Creasy has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Creasy looking to control but James is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. James wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Creasy.
Creasy has control of James's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and James regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Creasy pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Creasy tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Creasy prevents James from getting the reversal.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Creasy fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Creasy sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Creasy working for a submission but James is keeping him at bay. James has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Creasy's lack of action.
Creasy scoring with strikes to the body and head. Creasy sitting and controlling from the half guard. Creasy is sneakily working for an arm triangle but James sees it coming and defends easily. Creasy wants to work for an arm triangle but James is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Creasy moves into full mount! James won't be happy about that!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Creasy has isolated one of James's arms. James looking to fight him off but Creasy twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
