Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Johnny Helsinki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Panfas Loura! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Arvi Lind and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Helsinki works Loura's body with a nice hook. Helsinki scoring well with a low kick there.
Loura darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Loura looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Loura working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Helsinki's thigh. Helsinki counters though and makes it back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Helsinki had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Loura defends it easily. Loura looking to sit in guard and control but Helsinki gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Helsinki passes into half guard. Helsinki missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Loura trying to hold on to Helsinki's head to control him but Helsinki postures up.
Loura wants to get back to full guard but Helsinki has passed into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Helsinki trying to control the position but Loura is working away. Helsinki wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Loura, who protects the arm well. Loura is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Helsinki seems to be working for a kimura but Loura defends the submission attempt. Loura pushes Helsinki off and gets back to his feet. Loura looks gassed!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Loura misses with a double jab.
Helsinki tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Loura was well out of range. Poor timing from Helsinki. Loura throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Helsinki tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Loura is in Helsinki's guard. Helsinki has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Loura can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Helsinki is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Loura frees his head nicely. Oh but Helsinki has switched to an armbar! Loura is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
