Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, David Swain! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Greg Williams! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Josh West and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Williams manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Swain on his heels. He'll look to pass Swain's guard now, I'm sure. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Williams scoring with punches to the head and body. Swain tries to land a sweep but no joy. Swain knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Williams on the ground. Williams postures up.
Williams has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Williams connects with a couple of short punches. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Williams's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Williams scores with a decent looking elbow strike. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Swain is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Williams passes easily into side control. Nice work. Swain wants to control but Williams postures up. Swain takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Williams working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Swain is rocked! Swain tries to get back to half guard but can't. Oh Swain is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Williams cracks Swain with a big right hand but Swain just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Williams lands a huge shot from side control! Swain is out cold! This one is all over!
