The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Howlett scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Alves doesn't seem bothered though.
Alves fails with a takedown attempt.
Howlett misses with a straight left.
Howlett misses with a double jab.

Alves shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Howlett is trying to stand back up but Alves is controlling him
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alves tries to stand but can't do so whilst Howlett controls his leg.
Howlett is trying to stand.
Alves wants to stand up but Howlett has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Howlett is trying to get back to full guard.

Alves is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Howlett is just riding it out for now. Alves eventually gives up the hold.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Alves shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Howlett but Howlett pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Howlett keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
James Howlett has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kendall Alves.
Alves looks gassed!
Howlett scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
James Howlett is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Howlett connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Alves's hands.

Alves takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Howlett lands with a right hand.
Howlett clobbers Alves with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Howlett throws a shot to the body.
A jab from Howlett does it's job there.

Alves is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Alves bobbing and weaving nicely... He's ducked under a jab and ducks again but ooooooh! Howlett comes at him with an uppercut from hell! Alves falls to the canvas, unconscious! This one is all over! Oh man, looking at the replay that was right on the button! Alves was out before he hit the floor!
