PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Glin Burman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Coleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). George Coleman told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Glin Burman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, George Coleman!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Skip Squint and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Burman rushes Coleman and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Burman is trying to break free.
Burman is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Coleman is keeping busy.

Coleman breaks from the clinch.
Burman throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Burman wants to clinch up but Coleman keeps it at a distance.
Burman tries to clinch but Coleman moves out of range.
Coleman fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Burman lands with a slapping head kick.


It looks like George Coleman has been cut.

Burman moves into the clinch successfully.
Burman has had enough of the clinch but Coleman keeps him there for the moment.
Burman tries to circle away but Coleman has him pinned against the cage.

Burman escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Burman throws a left and a right that both miss

so Coleman counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Burman looking to control.
Coleman advances position into side control!
Burman is pushing Coleman's head away, looking to escape. Coleman manages to hold on to the position though.
Coleman is looking to take a break and control but Burman is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Coleman with the ground and pound but Burman regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Burman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Coleman on the ground.
Burman is looking to escape.
Burman is looking to control Coleman's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Burman avoid being mounted?
Coleman prevents Burman from standing back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Coleman is taking a breather. Burman says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Burman pushes Coleman off looking to stand but Coleman dives back in and keeps control.
Coleman tries to pass the half guard into mount. Burman knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Coleman looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Coleman looks gassed!

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. George Coleman wasn't active enough on the ground.
Burman throws the kick towards the body but Coleman avoids it.
Coleman changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Burman tries to avoid it but Coleman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Burman to the ground. Burman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Nice cross by Burman.
Burman moves in looking to clinch but Coleman pushes him off.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Burman tries to close the distance and clinch but Coleman swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Burman lands a nice looking body shot.
Burman rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Coleman moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Burman will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Burman darts in trying to clinch

and Coleman counters with a single leg into guard. Burman didn't expect that.
Coleman tries to free his leg and advance position but Burman is retaining full guard.
Burman is looking to stand up but Coleman isn't so interested in that idea.
Burman wants to sweep here but Coleman controlling him for the moment.
Burman wants to stand but Coleman is controlling the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Coleman throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Coleman stops Burman from standing up.
Coleman pushing down on Burman's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Burman wants to get back to his feet.

Coleman is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Coleman stops Burman from getting back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Coleman is working for a submission of some sort.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Glin Burman will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on George Coleman's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


No joy there for Burman, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Coleman shoots in but no luck this time.
Burman misses with a few strikes there.
Glin Burman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Burman looks to land a combination. Coleman sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Burman throws a series of punches but Coleman moves out of range.
Coleman misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Burman wants to clinch up but Coleman keeps it at a distance.
Coleman is breathing heavily.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Coleman.
Glin Burman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of George Coleman.
Coleman fails with the takedown.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Burman connects with a leg kick. Coleman looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Burman connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Coleman avoids the head kick by Burman.
Burman is looking to clinch.
Burman works Coleman's body with a nice hook.
Burman misses with a low kick.
Coleman swats away the attempt to clinch by Burman.
Coleman circles away from the clinch attempt.
Burman scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
A left and a right from Burman both land. Nice combination.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Oooooh!!! Burman has knocked Coleman down with a huge combo! Burman steps away and waves a wobbly Coleman back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


Coleman is rocked!
Burman plants his feet and throws a brutal three punch combo that sends Coleman swiftly into unconsciousness! Right, left, right! Boom, boom, boom! Coleman face plants, battered and bloodied! He might never be the same again after that finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Glin Burman!
An out of breath Glin Burman thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
