Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mitsuyo Maeda! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Super Slayer! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Thiago Cunha and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maeda changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Slayer looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Maeda wants to lay and pray for a moment but Slayer keeps working. Maeda happy to just control the position for now. Slayer is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Maeda throws an elbow but Slayer slips to the side and avoids it well. Maeda thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Maeda in side control, just content to control the action for now. Maeda is looking to take a break and control but Slayer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Slayer wants to control but Maeda postures up. Maeda wants to control for a moment but Slayer uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. Slayer is trying is best to control the position here. Slayer blocking the ground and pound attempt from Maeda. Slayer trying to hold on to Maeda's head to control him but Maeda postures up.
Maeda is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Slayer is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
