Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jamal Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jones Sanders! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Steve Smith and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sanders changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Johnson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Sanders working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Johnson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Sanders wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Johnson manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Sanders wants to control but Johnson is keeping busy.

That's one minute gone in the round. Sanders gets full guard. Johnson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Johnson misses with a takedown and Sanders counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Johnson! Johnson is breathing heavily. Johnson is in all sorts of trouble here.

Sanders working for a guillotine from mount but Johnson is in no mood to give up. Sanders looking to secure an arm triangle but Johnson defends it well. Johnson has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sanders is trying to stick to Johnson's back but Johnson is turning into Sanders. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Sanders's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Johnson. Sanders looking to control.
