Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hannibal King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucius Sexton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hannibal King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lucius Sexton!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, David Schapiro and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King tries for a takedown but Sexton sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Sexton shoots for a takedown but King saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

King moves into the clinch.
Sexton is looking for a takedown up against the cage. King gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Sexton has King pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. King manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Hannibal King has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lucius Sexton.

King gets underhooks to prevent Sexton's takedown attempt.
King wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Sexton stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

King controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

King gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
King shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from King.
Sexton changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. King tries to avoid it but Sexton manages to keep hold of a leg and drag King to the ground. King escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
King lands a glancing blow to the side of Sexton's head.
King could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Sexton fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with King, pushing him back against the cage.

King jumps guard.
Sexton trying to control the position from guard on top but King is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

King looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Sexton passes into half guard.

Sexton works his way into full mount!
King blocking the ground and pound.
King is in all sorts of trouble here.
King is trying to reverse the position but instead Sexton has taken his back - oops!
Sexton misses with a punch to the head.
Sexton controlling well, preventing King from escaping the position.

Sexton gets his hands free as King looks to control.
King rolls, trying to escape but Sexton keeps control of the position.

Will Sexton go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
King has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
King knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sexton on the ground.
King is breathing heavily.

King is in bad spot here.
Sexton lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.
King turns into Sexton and is now in his guard.
Sexton is trying to keep King in close.
Sexton trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sexton lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for King!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Lucius Sexton will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!


King tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

King drives through and clinches with Sexton against the cage.
King looking to stall.
Sexton tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. King smiles and moves away.
King misses with a low kick.

King tries to sprawl but Sexton drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Sexton passes to full mount!

Sexton has control of King's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and King regains control of the situation pretty easily.

King is squirming around, avoiding Sexton's attempts to control the action.
King wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Sexton.
King can't escape the position.
King has given up his back here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
King tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Sexton trying to control but King is having none of it.
Sexton fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Sexton unloads with some shots from mount but King bucks and avoids them well.
Sexton wants to control the pace but King is squirming around nicely.
Sexton thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sexton controlling his opponent.

Sexton is standing up, even though he is in mount.
King closes the distance and clinches up with Sexton, looking for a takedown. King pushes Sexton against the cage but Sexton circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from King lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Sexton has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Sexton and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Sexton shoots in for a takedown but King shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

King throws a right and a left that both miss.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sexton loads up on a big right hand but King slips the punch.
Sexton dives in and grabs King's left leg, looking for a takedown. King pushes down on Sexton's head and hops out.
King looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sexton is fending him off so far but King persists. Nope, Sexton circles away and we're back to standing.
King looks for a takedown but Sexton sprawls well.
King keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
King fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

King gets tackled into the cage by Sexton. Sexton maintains the clinch.
Sexton gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from King.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lucius Sexton showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Sexton tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but King paws at him with a jab and circles away.
King fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Sexton shoots in but King avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Excellent takedown into side control there by King.
Sexton wants to control but King postures up.
Sexton is trying to get back to half guard.
Sexton takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Sexton struggling a bit here.
The referee asks King politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. King prefers to stall for the moment though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Sexton's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Sexton manages to work his way to half guard, despite King's best efforts.
Lucius Sexton has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sexton gets back to full guard.
Sexton is trying to keep King in close.
King is stalling in the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
King shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Sexton defends it nicely.
King lands a right hook to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
King avoids a kick to the body.

Sexton tries to keep at a distance but King has taken the fight into the clinch.
Sexton has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Sexton swings wildly with an uppercut but King uses good head movement to avoid it.
King is trying to push Sexton away but Sexton has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Sexton tries to pull guard but King forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
King working hard to break the clinch.
Sexton has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. King is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Hannibal King has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lucius Sexton.
King tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Sexton avoids it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Sexton has hold of one of King's legs. King is fighting the takedown attempt but Sexton gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Sexton wants to control from the top but King keeps moving.
King is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Hannibal King.
I think Sexton has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
