Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kaname Tosen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kevin James! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! James takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Sloppy strikes from James. Those never looked like landing. Tosen dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on James. That did some damage! Tosen dives in and grabs James's left leg, looking for a takedown. James pushes down on Tosen's head and hops out. Tosen looks to score with a jab to the body but James is just out of range. Tosen tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. A swing and a miss from Tosen. James misses the jab. James closes the distance and clinches up with Tosen, looking for a takedown. James pushes Tosen against the cage but Tosen circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Tosen fails to land the takedown. James waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Tosen. That kick from Tosen tenderised James's leg. James is trying to keep his angry face on. Tosen dives in and grabs James's left leg, looking for a takedown. James pushes down on Tosen's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kaname Tosen. That's going to take a lot out of him. James avoids a kick to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Tosen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
That's one minute gone in the round. A slow jab from James misses its intended target. Tosen fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Tosen pushes James up against the cage in a clinch. Tosen will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning James up against the cage. An uppercut to the body lands inside from Tosen. James with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
James wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
James tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. James is looking to break free of the clinch but Tosen has double underhooks. James wants to break free but Tosen has control.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Tosen presses James against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. James is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Tosen gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Tosen lands with a light punch inside. James is trying to force a seperation but Tosen has the dominant position. Tosen blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Tosen misses with a hook to the ribs.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Tosen passes into half guard. Tosen sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. James defending well though. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Tosen connects with a nice short shot to James's temple. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. James is looking for a sweep. Tosen is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Tosen sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. James defending well though. James is controlling Tosen's position as best he can from this difficult position. Tosen is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. James wants to get back to full guard. Tosen is looking to take a break and control but James is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. James tries to roll over but Tosen keeps him under control. James is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Tosen thows a huge punch but James dodges it nicely.
James gets full guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. James has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Tosen has passed into side control.

Kaname Tosen dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Tosen throws a sloppy head kick and James moves out of range easily. James throws a shot from downtown. Tosen moves away and avoids it. Tosen does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Kaname Tosen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tosen cracks James with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Tosen looking to score a takedown here. James is defending well but Tosen drives through and ends up in James's guard. James manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Tosen manages to get himself to full guard.
James wants to pass the guard but Tosen is keeping the position. James must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. James trying to control but Tosen is working from the bottom. James in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Tosen keeping full guard, as James tries to pass.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tosen trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Tosen keeping moving, preventing James from controlling successfully. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Tosen working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. James doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. James manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. James looking to pass the guard. James wants to control from the top but Tosen keeps moving.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Kevin James hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. An inside leg kick from Tosen misses. Tosen shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as James sprawls well. James wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Tosen gets slowly back to his feet. Tosen looks to throw the jab but James is out of range. James moves out of range of the body kick. Tosen is trying hard to land a takedown here. James sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Tosen checks a leg kick. James lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Tosen circles away quickly and effectively. James misses with an uppercut. Tosen saw that one coming.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tosen closes the distance and clinches up with James, looking for a takedown. That's going to take a lot out of him. Tosen slips a straight right by James. Tosen blocks a head kick by James.

Tosen shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Tosen was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Tosen cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
James bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tosen wants to get back to his feet but James is in a dominant position and won't allow it. James trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. James throws a big elbow that misses. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! James pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Tosen is keeping the position for now. Tosen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. James wants to control from the top but Tosen keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Tosen looking for submissions from the bottom but instead James passes into side control.

That was a close second round but I would say that Kaname Tosen will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Kaname Tosen has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. James stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Tosen. A solid leg kick lands there for Tosen.
Tosen lands with a nice body kick. Tosen throws a quick inside leg kick. Tosen goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Tosen turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Tosen throws the kick towards the body but James avoids it. James throws a leg kick but Tosen checks it. Tosen is looking to slow James down with leg kicks. James fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kevin James has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

James throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Tosen throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. James was covering up waiting for the punch and Tosen finishes the takedown easily into guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Tosen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as James works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Tosen landing some decent shots from guard. Tosen trying to control the position from guard on top but James is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kaname Tosen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Kaname Tosen is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. James avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Tosen.

The fighters are battling for position here. James manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Tosen is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Tosen throwing strikes but missing. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. James isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Tosen stacks James on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Tosen!
And that's the end of the fight! Kaname Tosen showed his dominance in that final round. Well Tosen has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
