Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sam Rice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sadaharu Tanikawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sam Rice! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sadaharu Tanikawa! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tanikawa slips a straight right by Rice. Tanikawa throws a hook to the side of Rice's head but Rice sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Rice misses with a takedown and Tanikawa counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Tanikawa scoring with punches to the head and body. Tanikawa postures up in Rice's guard and throws a big left but Rice blocks it. Rice working for a triangle but Tanikawa defends it easily.
Rice preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Rice is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Tanikawa lands a couple of decent looking shots. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Tanikawa scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Tanikawa throwing strikes but missing. Tanikawa works over Rice with some ground and pound from guard. Tanikawa lands a couple of elbows. Rice looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Tanikawa working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Rice's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tanikawa throws a big right hand that misses. Tanikawa with a nice head shot there. Rice tries to land a sweep but no joy. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rice avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Tanikawa avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Tanikawa postures up in Rice's guard and throws a big left but Rice blocks it. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Tanikawa's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Tanikawa landing with the ground and pound. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Tanikawa is working Rice over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Tanikawa lands a couple of elbows.
Rice is rocked! Tanikawa scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Oh Rice is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Tanikawa postures up and lands a big shot to Rice's brow. Tanikawa avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Tanikawa with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Tanikawa gets to his feet and stands over Rice, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Rice felt that one! Tanikawa unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Rice from any more punishment!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sadaharu Tanikawa! After winning the bout, Sadaharu Tanikawa thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
