PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Masahiko Kimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Jaa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Tony Jaa was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Masahiko Kimura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Tony Jaa!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Steven Brown and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kimura forces Jaa back against the cage and clinches.
Jaa prevents Kimura from breaking the clinch.

Jaa breaks from the clinch.
Kimura scores with a shot to the body.

Kimura has managed to clinch.
Kimura is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Jaa breaks from the clinch.
Jaa swings for the body but Kimura moves out of range.
Kimura shoots in for a takedown but Jaa shows good takedown defense.
Jaa tries to clinch up.
Jaa falls off balance throwing a combination
and Kimura counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Jaa thinking.
Jaa misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Jaa tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kimura swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Kimura shoots in and gets a takedown into Jaa's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Kimura tries to clinch up but Jaa circles away and keeps his distance.
Jaa ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Kimura looks to score with a jab to the body but Jaa is just out of range.

Kimura has closed the distance and engaged Jaa in a clinch.

Kimura wants the takedown. Jaa is fighting it off but Kimura persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Jaa's guard against the cage.
Kimura seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Jaa tries to clinch but Kimura is having none of it.

Jaa is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Kimura is defending well for now.
Kimura jumps guard but Jaa stands there with Kimura around his waist. Kimura gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Jaa unloads a knee to the mid-section. Kimura lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Jaa loads up on a big right hand but Kimura slips the punch.
Jaa lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Kimura backs up against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kimura closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jaa circles away.
Jaa uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kimura.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jaa looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jaa rushes Kimura and presses him up against the cage.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Kimura misses with a body punch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Masahiko Kimura dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kimura takes a swing at Jaa's ribcage but misses.
Jaa throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Kimura scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Jaa is looking to escape.
Kimura is controlling the pace.
Jaa tries to kick Kimura off but Kimura keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Kimura is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Jaa has managed to free his arm - good work.

Kimura is looking to work his way around to Jaa's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kimura can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jaa is looking to escape.

Kimura has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Jaa's face.
You get the feeling that Jaa really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Kimura can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jaa is looking to escape.

Jaa is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Kimura gets his way!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kimura throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.

Kimura has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Jaa has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Jaa is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


The fighters circle momentarily. Kimura darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jaa looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Kimura is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jaa can do to turn this around?

Jaa pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Jaa moves in looking to clinch but Kimura pushes him off.
Jaa swats away the attempt to clinch by Kimura.

Kimura closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kimura lands in his opponent's guard.
Kimura stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jaa swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jaa can't keep his opponent in guard - Kimura advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Masahiko Kimura is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Jaa wants to get back to his feet.
Kimura is controlling the pace.
Kimura uses his free foot to push down on Jaa's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jaa.
Kimura moves to the back.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Jaa is trying to defend against the choke here but Kimura has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Kimura Tightens the hold and Jaa taps out furiously! Kimura displays superior BJJ to win the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Masahiko Kimura!
Post fight, Masahiko Kimura stared into the camera and said 'Hey Tony, thanks for the workout bud... I wouldn't go lifting anything heavy for a while which rules out the wife! Now back to business, HMMA officials book me in the main event.. that's what these dipshits came here to see.... hey dipshits don't booo me, booo yourselves and do summert about your'.
